Goal: Improve coping, emotional regulation, and functioning during life stressors, transitions, or role strain.
Objectives:
Client will identify current stressors and their impact on mood, body, relationships, and functioning.
Client will clarify values, needs, boundaries, and areas of control.
Client will practice stress management, problem-solving, and communication strategies.
Client will increase use of restorative activities and support systems.
Interventions:
Therapist will provide psychoeducation on stress, burnout, and nervous system strain.
Therapist will support problem-solving and prioritization around current stressors.
Therapist will use ACT, CBT, mindfulness, and values-based interventions to increase flexibility and coping.
Therapist will support boundary-setting and communication skills as clinically appropriate.
Goal: Strengthen boundaries, role clarity, and sustainable expectations to reduce stress and burnout.
Objectives:
Client will identify roles, responsibilities, relationships, or environments contributing to stress, overwhelm, or depletion.
Client will clarify personal limits, needs, values, and areas of control.
Client will practice setting realistic expectations and communicating boundaries when clinically appropriate.
Client will reduce overfunctioning, people-pleasing, avoidance, or perfectionistic patterns that contribute to burnout.
Interventions:
Therapist will provide psychoeducation on stress, burnout, role strain, and boundary patterns.
Therapist will use CBT and values-based interventions to help client examine expectations, beliefs, and assumptions contributing to overwhelm.
Therapist will support client in identifying practical boundary-setting strategies and communication language.
Therapist will help client develop a sustainable plan for responsibilities, rest, support, and recovery.
Goal: Increase resilience, coping flexibility, and emotional regulation during periods of transition or ongoing stress.
Objectives:
Client will identify emotional, cognitive, physical, and relational signs of stress escalation.
Client will develop a personalized coping plan for managing stressors and transitions.
Client will practice grounding, mindfulness, problem-solving, or self-compassion strategies between sessions.
Client will increase use of supportive routines, relationships, and restorative activities.
Interventions:
Therapist will provide psychoeducation on the stress response, nervous system activation, and the impact of chronic stress.
Therapist will teach and practice grounding, mindfulness, breathing, and emotion regulation skills.
Therapist will use problem-solving and ACT-informed interventions to help client respond flexibly to stressors.
Therapist will support client in building routines and supports that promote recovery, stability, and values-based functioning.
